Abstract
Introduction: The aim of our study was to describe the epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of urological pathologies in women in the urology and andrology department of the Ignace Deen national hospital in Conakry. Material and Methods: We conducted a retrospective study from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2020, a period of 5 years. All the files of patients followed for urological pathology with a medical observation, paraclinical check-ups, an operative report with a post-operative follow-up in case of surgery were included. Results: One hundred and sixty patients met our inclusion criteria, representing 0.85% of urological pathology in women in our department. The mean age of our patients was 46.89 ± 20.53 years, with extremes of 09 months and 90 years. However, the majority of our patients (54.37%) were under 50 years of age. The reasons for consultation were dominated by lumbar pain (19.79%; n=57), vaginal mass (14.93%; n=43) and dysuria (10.07%; n=29). Urogynaecological pathologies were the most
common (35.76%; n=59), followed by lithiasis (22.42%; n=37). Among tumour pathologies, bladder tumours accounted for 46.67% of cases (n=7), followed by renal tumours (33.33%; n=5), upper excretory tract tumours (13.33%; n=2) and left renal cysts (6.67%; n=1).
Conclusion: In our context, urological conditions in women are uncommon, varied and not insignificant. Urogynaecological
pathologies were the most frequent causes of hospitalisation, followed by lithiasis.
