Abstract

Introduction: To be effective, antenatal care must be started at an early stage of pregnancy and above all, it must continue with some regularity until delivery.
Objective: To study the factors associated with the attendance of pregnant women at refocused antenatal
consultations in the municipality of Allada in 2021.
Study materials and methods: This was a descriptive study with an analytical aim which took place from
December 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021 Results: The prevalence of attendance of pregnant women at refocused antenatal consultations was 37.2%. The
mean age of the women in the sample was 26.4 ± 5.6 years. Women in the 25-35 age group were the most
represented 53.3%. The majority of pregnant women surveyed were married 98.9%, resellers or traders
38.5%, living in rural areas 51.6% and going to prenatal consultations by motorbike 81%. They had a
secondary education level in 37.4% of cases. The level of education of the pregnant woman p <0.001, the level of education of the spouse p <0.001, knowledge of the number of refocused prenatal consultations to be carried out by the pregnant women p<0.001, and information given by the provider on the evolution of the pregnancy p=0.001, were the factors associated with the attendance of pregnant women at refocused antenatal consultations. Conclusion: Few pregnant women in the commune of Allada are diligent in refocused prenatal consultations. Actions must be taken at the level of pregnant women and maternity providers to encourage women to attend prenatal consultations regularly.
